James Christos' latest report includes video of his Mexican adventures, and the latest check-in from his Motel 6 (and his show!) in Phoenix.
110 degrees...dry heat! Its like being out in a rotisserie. Phoenix is always live, but this visit started off a lil' rough. Went to check into the hotel and there were some "incidental" fees being charged. Apparently last time I was at the Crowne Plaza in Phoenix some things were damaged. My bad. But at the same time they bad cause I wasn't bout to pay for something I wasn't sure was my fault. So it was off to the default hotel. Aaahhh yeah...Motel 6. Where they always keep the light on.
Tried to get a lil' rest but that didn't happen (side note: I have a notorious reputation for being an insomniac, and I have to have total sensory deprivation to go to sleep). Around 6:30PM, Ms. Reno came to my room banging in the door yelling that we were late for sound check. I was like "Dude sound check is at 8:30PM, its only 6:30PM your on central time still. Get ya mind right!" Amateurs. We met up with the homie Novelty (he's made a couple of stops in KC during the peanut days). He escorted us to the local spirits shop to get the pre-party started. Round 12:30PM KCreeper hit the stage, and then I followed.
The crowd was hype and loved the new material! What a rush. The show was dope but the real performance was after the show. And it starred Young Fresh (my lil' brother)! You know I was gonna just document all the foolishness that occurs after one of the shows but my mama would never speak to me again. I'll just say this...if I'm ever in ya town and Young Fresh is around, guard ya girl!
Here's Christos' flat tire -- in the dark -- two miles from the Mexican border, before he and his crew "slither" into Juarez. (Which is pretty damn dangerous, actually. To quote Christos: "We're in Juarez right now, which is one of the most dangerous places in the world; but, we're from Kansas City, so it doesn't make much of a difference, really.")
