If Shannon Young is lucky, her picture won't be splashed across media sites like Debra Lafave or Pamela Rogers Turner or Mary Kay Letourneau-Fauulau or, the latest woman accused of sexing an underage boy, Stephanie Ragusa, who was just sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Young, 36, is charged with three counts of unlawful sexual relations with a 17-year-old male student, identified as GJF, between August 1,
2009, and June 2, 2010. Prosecutors say the sex was consensual (save the 'but she's hot" comments).
Young is a former teacher and volleyball coach at Pleasant Ridge High
School in Easton, Kansas. She was arrested yesterday around 10 a.m. -- without enough warning to pull down her Facebook page. Here's a superficial look at Young's interests and wisdom.
We were out and about this month before the summer solstice kicked in and we have the photos to prove it. There was the West 18th Street Fashion Show, showcasing Kansas City's design stars, and the first Grand River Rally, where you're never too old to get your boobs painted up real nice (NSFW).
If you missed out on what happened this month, you're in luck -- we look back on all the moments we captured during the month of June in this slideshow. You can also share snapshots you've taken this month -- or anytime -- in the Pitch's Flickr pool.
Kansas bar and club owners will have to wait one more day to find out if their legal attack on a statewide smoking ban is successful.
Shawnee County District Judge Franklin R. Theis heard the bar owners' case for a temporary injunction against the ban Tuesday morning, and he will issue his ruling by 5 p.m. Wednesday.
The discovery of 57-year-old man's body in a room at an Olathe Econo Lodge (209 East Flaming Road) has sparked a homicide investigation.
Last Saturday, the Independent Filmmaker's Coalition of Kansas City held it's annual "One Night Stand" contest, in which filmmakers are challenged to make a short movie in just 10 hours. Nearly 20 teams spent the day sweating and filming. Among them: musician John Bersuch and producer-videographer Scott Johnson. Their film, ENDANGERED, won second place at the IFC's screening Saturday night.
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe says that his teammates aren't mad at him about his now infamous interview with ESPN The Magazine in which he claimed his teammates used social networking to import NFL groupies while on the road.
"No, because now they are finding out it definitely wasn't me," Bowe said during an interview with 790 the Fan in Atlanta. "But I took that like a man. People that really know the Dwayne Bowe that clowns but on a serious note won't let anything out of the locker room that is not supposed to be out."
Prosecutors in New Mexico have dropped fraud charges against Paul Montano, who allegedly shipped parts of bodies donated for medical science to a medical waste facility in Kansas City, Kansas.
But Montano's legal woes don't appear to be over.
