If Shannon Young is lucky, her picture won't be splashed across media sites like Debra Lafave or Pamela Rogers Turner or Mary Kay Letourneau-Fauulau or, the latest woman accused of sexing an underage boy, Stephanie Ragusa, who was just sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Young, 36, is charged with three counts of unlawful sexual relations with a 17-year-old male student, identified as GJF, between August 1,

2009, and June 2, 2010. Prosecutors say the sex was consensual (save the 'but she's hot" comments).

Young is a former teacher and volleyball coach at Pleasant Ridge High

School in Easton, Kansas. She was arrested yesterday around 10 a.m. -- without enough warning to pull down her Facebook page. Here's a superficial look at Young's interests and wisdom.

Pat Benatar is coming to Rainy Day Books

It's happening at Unity Temple on the Plaza on Sunday, July 11, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. The catch is that in order to go, you must have a ticket, which you can only get by purchasing the book at Rainy Day Books. But that's not really a catch, because you should be supporting the darned heck out of Rainy Day Books, because that place is awesome and the people there are very nice and smart and the world will be a worse place if, god forbid, it goes out of business due to e-books and Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

  • A fashion show gave us wings this month.

We were out and about this month before the summer solstice kicked in and we have the photos to prove it. There was the West 18th Street Fashion Show, showcasing Kansas City's design stars, and the first Grand River Rally, where you're never too old to get your boobs painted up real nice (NSFW).

If you missed out on what happened this month, you're in luck -- we look back on all the moments we captured during the month of June in this slideshow. You can also share snapshots you've taken this month -- or anytime -- in the Pitch's Flickr pool.

At RecordBar, Katlyn Conroy -- who we just profiled in last week's print edition -- plays on a bill with fellow Lawrence act Tut Tut and North Dakota's Secret Cities. "Richly orchestrated electronic ballads," says Elke

At Czar Bar, it's more of a down-home feel, with Cincy cowpunk act 500 Miles to Memphis and the easygoing Americana of local group Expassionates. That's an early show, with doors at 8 p.m.
