  • Vote, fools!

So anyway what you're gonna wanna do is you're gonna wanna go to this here spot, type in your name and email, and then vote for your fave local musicians. You know the drill. If you are afraid that we will use your information for unsavory, spammy purposes, well, that is absurd and frankly insulting. To think that we would bite the hand that feeds us! But your concern is understandable. If you are really concerned, you could use a fake name and the dummy email account you give out when you register for pornography sites on the internet. The point is, just vote. Go do it now!

And in the comments section below, you will find unlimited space with which to vent your anger and dismay regarding our nominations, categories, and selection process. Looking forward to hearing feedback from y'all. Also looking forward to the awards night, which is Sunday, August 15 at the Uptown.

*Unconfirmed.

I think its absolutely absurd the Them Damned Young Livers were passed up again. We put on one of the best live shows in KC.. We cover the region from Minnesota to Oklahoma.. From Grand Junction to Michigan, Knoxville Indiana Etc. Who's toes you gotta suck on to get a nomination?

I'm wondering the same thing Amy is. Not to hate but the "Hip-Hop" category is a misnomer. The rap category encompasses the backpackers and gagsta (?) rappers. Simply because Rap is an art-form and Hip-Hop is a culture. Who calls rappers hip-hopers? Maybe your grandfather or something! Rap is a sub-genre of Hip-Hop which includes everything from graffing, turntablism, breaking, etc. Both lists INCLUDE RAPPERS -- regardless of style -- and should both be in the Rap category.

Also, I know that the KC music scene is sort of small, but think about it; over the past few years the very talented folks in the rap / hip-hop all seem to be from the same circles. Some have straight up been the same nominees. Kudos for repetition but maybe Pitch should cast their net a little deeper.

Again, I'm not sure who nominates folks but 1) I and the rest of the readers would probably like to know and 2) We'd like to have a say!

Just saying.

I still love you :). I promise.

Also, you should add a DJ: Reggae category. :)

Who determines the nominees, which category they're in, and who plays the Showcase? It would be nice if your readers had a little more input.
