Here is a secret about Of Montreal: they are not from Montreal, or even Of that city! They are from Athens, Georgia, which is in the same state as Atlanta. That's probably how these two know each other, come to think of it. Georgia. Big deal.

Tickets on sale Saturday at 10 a.m.

I wish Janelle was headlining this show....Of Montreal's shtick has grown tiresome.

Eassssy guys. I got no beef with Monae. I mentioned how awesome I think she is. And I understand why she went to ATL. Just making a few light jokes. Let's everybody cool down.

Atlanta has been nothing short of a mecca for Black musicians for well over a decade now - just like Kansas City was up through the 1950s. Jamel is absolutely right - she just went where the music IS to make, y'know, an actual career out of it.

Furthermore, who ever said that artists have an obligation to rep where they are from? Let Nesto tell you about all that...

It really just comes down to the fact that Atlanta is the NYC of the south. It is a major city.

Well, Charlie Parker is from KCK specifically. So, i guess that analogy works.

Count Basie CAME TO KC from NJ. You are an idiot. That is all.

P.S. You probably live in KC.

You got it wrong david, its not that Janelle never repped the town, the town never repped her the way they should've. had she stayed in KC as an artist, she would have NEVER broken thru as a national act, let alone maintained a following in a city where individuality, creativity, and free thinking are nearly outlawed...

Kansas City is nortoriously too late in discovering, following, and championing its home-grown talent.

I called it the Charlie Parker Effect..
