No real need for touring bands this weekend. The best shows are local, baby.
FRIDAY
James Christos wraps up a tour that we have faithfully followed by playing both the Riot Room and Czar Bar. If you want to go outside at Riot Room, there's a Grateful Dead cover band called Skull and Roses on the patio.
The Record Machine Summer Showcase, with Soft Reeds, Cowboy Indian Bear, and Motorboater is over at RecordBar.
Saturday and Sunday after the jump.
SATURDAY
Adrianne Verhoeven, formerly of the Anniversary and of being Dri, has a new band called Extra Classic, and it's at Czar Bar for an early show, at 7 p.m.
Local afrobeat-funk outfit Hearts of Darkness has a CD release party at Crosstown Station.
Mark Lowrey's jazzy Radiohead tribute is at RecordBar.
SUNDAY
Turbo Fruits, who we wrote about here, are with Mini Mansions and the Dactyls at the Replay. That's probably the best thing going.
See you Monday!
