Opener Beach House has a name that would seem like a band that'd play with Vampire Weekend, but their sound -- driven by singer Victoria Legrand's gorgeous, sultry vocals -- is more of a lush, dream-pop type of thing. Its album Teen Dream remains one of the best releases of the year.

The Very Best, which combines African pop with modern dance beats, is a more natural opener for VW.

A solid evening of music, this. Tickets are on sale this Friday at 10 a.m.

Beach House is the key to this one.

Wow, Abe, I hope you have a great day. You're in a local band that isn't very good aren't you? Not that I give a single crap, I just happen to know more about this band and I love when people like you post twice about "the Hamptons" and looking like the Jonas Bros. Actually, this band is more musically intelligent than 90% of the acts that have come out in the past decade. TRUST ME, my initial reaction to these guys was not good at all. Why in gods name did I just post something on a message board? F me.

And before you chastise me for hating them based on "vaguely preppy clothing", I heard the band before I ever saw their faces, and it still sucked. It just sucked more when I saw the Jonas Brothers look a likes. In fact the first time I saw them was on the SNL with Zack Galifianakis and I thought it was a skit making fun of NYC-indie bands.

I find it really hard to watch a bunch of NYU students who vacation with their parents in the Hamptons try and be "rockstars", not that they rock anyways.
