Lady Gaga is notorious for tweeting funny, witty, and insightful things on the fly about her fans. (Click here for a top ten list from the music blog of our sister paper, the Riverfront Times, for more of 'em.) At Lady Gaga's show in St. Louis on Saturday night, Phelps and his crew of Westboro Baptist Church protesters showed up to decry the pop star's success (and her "proud whoring ways") on Saturday night. (St. Louis staged its own gender-bender-friendly kissing protest back, but you can read more about that after the jump.)

On Saturday night, about six of Phelp's followers showed up to hoist obscene placards in the air. Unfortunately, for the pro-gay, pro-freak, pro-pretty-much-everything pop star, that's nothing new; Phelps and co. tried to protest her appearance at the Fox Theater back in January, and they're going to be pissing off fans on August 3 when Gaga rocks the Sprint center, too.

What's interesting is that Lady Gaga warns her fans, via her Twitter, how to respond to the hateful messages that the Westboro Baptist Church is spreading.

Personally, I'm guessing that the outfits that some fans will be sporting on August 3 will be offensive to the WBC all by themselves. Glitter and gold lamé? Anything for you, Gaga.
