Malkmus does not appear to be the problem.
Pavement refused to let Pitchfork stream its set at the Pitchfork Festival last weekend. Why?
According to Greg Kot at the Chicago Tribune, somebody in the band has issues with something the tastemaking music site wrote about them and decided to throw a little hissy about it. I'm on...Pitchfork's side in this one?
Ra Ra Riot has a new album out next month, and yesterday they donated a song from it to the internet. It's called "Boy," and it is really fucking good. Orchestral pop ain't usually my thing, but these guys got it goin' on. Download it here. They're at the Granada October 9.
Saddle Creek announced a release date for Cursive/The Good Life frontman Tim Kasher's solo record. It's called The Game of Monogamy and it's out on the label on October 5.
And finally, the Arcade Fire released a trailer (below) for its upcoming string of dates, which includes a live Youtube webcast of a show from Madison Square Garden. Superfans are currently claiming that this video was directed by Spike Jonze.
