You will want to get to tonight's Buzz Under the Stars #3 earlier than you'd think

The third installment of 96.5 the Buzz's Buzz Under the Stars series is like a buffet

of generally unrelated and mismatched acts, lined up one after the other. It's

like eating at a Ryan's Steak House. Except all the food at Ryan's Steak House is

nasty, whereas there's probably at least one act on this bill your average rock

fan will find tasty enough to shell out for.

Let us examine this bill more closely.

The Buzz's core demographic will likely gravitate towards the guitar-heavy, arena shoegaze of nineties revivalists Silversun Pickups

Punk diehards can piss and moan all they want about Against Me! "selling out," but everybody else loves the band's polished, streamlined rock anthems. (Bonus: Franz Nicolay, the recently departed keyboardist for the Hold Steady, is now a touring member of the band.)

Ben Folds hasn't made a relevant album in nigh on a decade now, but the man has a catalog with some legit hits.

But Devo, touring in support of its first album in twenty years, is the real X-factor. Early reports from the tour confirm that the new-wave art-rock legends' show includes multiple costume changes, including yellow jumpsuits and, yes, energy domes. Also: band cofounder (and Wes Anderson collaborator) Mark Mothersbaugh has art on display at the Guitar Syndicate in the Crossroads, which you can check out prior to the show.

Here's the stage times:

Doors - 6:00
Crash Kings - 6:15 to 6:45
Against Me - 7:05 to 7:35
Devo - 7:55 to 8:40
Silversun Pickups - 9:00 to 9:50
Ben Folds - 10:10 to 11:10

So you might need to hustle after work to catch everything you want. Tonight, at City Market.

Abe, Don't you understand? Nick is resigned to staying away from the highways and the heat. If the greatness of Devo and free tickets cannot prompt him to get his AC-loving bottom to City Market, it's clear that even the slightest bit of shade won't change his mind. To him, City Market currently sits in the depths of a flaming inferno.

Nick, again, I know people who will take your free tickets.

"standing in the middle of an open square"

you are aware of City Market's covered areas right? There are three of them in the middle. If you squint you can see them.

Nick, You don't want your tickets? Fine. I know a lot of people who will happily take them off your hands and deal with the traffic and the heat. You got them free so I imagine you won't worry about making any money off of them, right?

I've got free tickets, and I'm still not going. It's just too effing hot. The setting sun reflecting off the windows to the Steamboat Arabia museum and standing in the middle of an open square after braving rush hour traffic through the downtown loop...no thank you.
