Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan's wine documentary, Blood Into Wine, will screen in Lawrence

Keenan's in (sort of) good company on this venture, as Wayward and Fat City have reported. But unlike his rock star colleagues, Keenan's enthusiasm is based on a crusade -- specifically, to establish Northern Arizona as a major winemaking region.

The guys who made The Heart is a Drum Machine have made a documentary about Keenan's wine endeavors called Blood Into Wine, and it's playing in Lawrence on September 10, at Pachamama's. Starting at 6 p.m., there'll be a Blood Into Wine screening and tasting party. It's $20 for entry and appetizers, and $15 for the tasting. More info here

I love wine. Love Tool even more. What can I say? Went wine tasting today in AZ and visited three wine tasting spots in Jerome,AZ. Was not impressed by any of the wines offered at Cardeuseus(spelling???)Maynard's blends....disappointed. Overpriced and well overall.... sub-par wine. Pretty presentation. The other two spots.....highly recommend. Very good.

Tool head, Maynard justs mugs to the camera in The Heart is a Drum Machine. If you dig him, save your money.

This played at the Screenland toward the start of the summer here in KC. As an MJK fan I found it, like must of his work, fascinating. I wonder if the wine tasting will be of his stuff or just random stuff.

Not sure how, or why I haven't yet, caught The Heart is a Drum Machine.

@Misterlee When I started writing that post, I intended to squeeze Carey in there somewhere but just forgot I guess. You're right though -- and Carey's an incredible drummer.

Just a heads up about Tool. Drummer Danny Carey is a UMKC alum from Paola, KS. I know he wasn't the focus of the story, but it was an opportunity to remind people about a former KC musician who has found success.
