The upcoming Billy Joel musical at the Jewish Community Center will either be awesome or terrible, depending on your opinion of Billy Joel

Anyway. It's complicated with Joel, is all I'm saying. Perhaps the upcoming stage production of his music at the Jewish Community Center will help clarify things?

"Songs of the Piano Man: The Music of Billy Joel," (which is not the same thing as Movin' Out, the popular Broadway musical that features Joel's songs) is running at the JCC September 15, 16, 21, and 15 at 7:30 p.m., with matinees September 19 and 26 at 2 p.m. It's directed by Mark Swezey, with musical direction by Kristi Mitchell and choreography by Ann McCroskey. Tickets are $13 for members, $19 for the general public, and $10 for students.

More info here. Not to rain on the parade -- you should totally go see the musical, and as I mentioned I am a Joel fan -- but have you seen his performance with Springsteen from the 2009 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? It's bleak, baby. Comically bad.
