  • Brubeck's show at the Missouri Theatre has been canceled.
An all-time-great jazz pianist, Dave Brubeck is pushing 90 years old and still gigging around.

He was scheduled to stop by the Missouri Theatre in Columbia on October 16 as part of the city's "We Always Swing" Jazz Series, but unfortunately that show -- along with his entire tour -- has been canceled due to Brubeck's chief cardiologist forbidding him to travel or perform.

(We're assuming this applies to Brubeck's date at the Folly as well, where he was scheduled to appear on October 14.)

Ticketholders have a few options. They can exchange the tickets for another 2010-2011 "We Always Swing" show (subject to availability). Or make a tax-deductible donation for the value of their tickets. Or receive a full refund. More info here. Here's hoping Brubeck recovers and makes it through these parts again soon.

You just got to love Brubeck:
