Late pass, but did you know former Pembroke Hill and University of Missouri basketball star Kareem Rush is now an R&B singer?
After being waived by the Los Angeles Clippers earlier this year, he's embarked upon a solo singing career. His debut song, "Hold You Down (Promises)" -- got to love that parenthetical -- seems to have been creeping around the web since May, and the video debuted in August. How has nobody told me about this?
Kind of a Trey Songz vibe, no? No shortage of Auto-Tune, but there might be a decent voice in there somewhere. Rush was one of the smoothest college ballplayers I've ever seen in person -- his left-handed jumper was gorgeous -- so I suppose it's not such a leap to singing smoove jamz.
Still confused by all this? I found a fairly enlightening interview with Rush about his new career here. (Hat-tip to local hip-hop-centric blog Demencha for the video.)
