It's that time of year again when local musicians get the warm fuzzies and help out their own.
For the third year, Abigail Henderson and the folks at the Midwest Music Foundation are organizing Apocalypse Meow, to help raise funds for the Apocalypse Meow Musicians Health Care Fund.
This year's event begins with a First Friday show on November 5 at the Midwestern Music Company (1830 Locust, 816-931-6962) with Henderson's band, Atlantic Fadeout. John Velghe and his Prodigal Sons will open. This will be a free, all-ages show. Donations are welcome, as are the purchases of rock posters and other music-related artwork.
Night number two will go down at the Riot Room and will feature the Roman Numerals, Sons of Great Dane, Cherokee Rock Rifle, Robert Moore, Mark Lowrey vs. Hip-Hop, Adam Lee & the Dead Horse Sound Co., Vi Tran Band, Walkenhorst & Porter, Scott Easterday and Elaine McMilian and DJ Rockwell. $10 gets you all this local talent if you are 21 and over.
Additional ducats can be used towards the massive raffle and auction. Items available include: Jaykco guitar straps, a Fender Squire SP-10 amp, two tickets to see the Chiefs and the Titans at Arrowhead on December 26, massages, golf packages, gift certificates and much more.
If you can't come to the show, stop by and see Abigail at Fred P. Ott's on the Plaza where she slings fried pickles and Miller Lite. Tip her a lot. She's awesome.
