Director Kevin Smith wraps up filming on his new flick, Red State, this week. He's been taking questions about the film on Twitter today, and the response to this tweet caught our eye:
Seems Smith is looking for both speed metal and country tracks to use in the film, and has provided an e-mail address to which musical artists can submit tunes.
As the forthcoming horror film is based in part on the wacky antics of Fred Phelps and his Topeka-based Westboro Baptist Church, we think it'd be stellar to see a local artist or two on the soundtrack.
Personally, I'm leaning towards Pitch Award-winning thrash metal act Hammerlord, or the throwback twang of Adam Lee & the Dead Horse Sound Company. Hell, even Them Damned Young Livers (whose cowpunk straddles both genres) would work nicely. If you think you've got a shot, send an e-mail to redstatesongs@viewaskew.com.
