Pin-ups, burlesque and twangy rockabilly style: Robert Folsom has the skinny on tonight's show at Knuckleheads.
Saving the animal kingdom never seemed so saucy. From 7 p.m. to midnight, a dozen classy lasses compete at the Miss Vixen 2011 Pin-Up Pageant,
hosted by Artemis Vulgaris and Annie Cherry at Knuckleheads Saloon
(2715 Rochester, 816-483-1456).
In talent and swimsuit contests, contestants parade before a panel of judges who have the enviable job of choosing one vivacious vixen to crown in this retro-inspired fashion event. This is a calendar-release party, too, for the Vixen Pin-Up 2011 calendar, with a portion of the calendar-sale profits going to Animal Haven, which should set some happy tails to wagging. (During her reign, the new Miss Vixen 2011 will work with Vixen Pin-Up Photography at special events and photo ops.) As if the pulchritudinous pageantry weren't enough, the Kansas City Society of Burlesque also will perform. Then, Little Rachel and the Rhythm Busters take the stage for their last KC performance before Little Rachel heads for other regions. Admission is $8 for the 21-and-older show.
