Man about Midtown and resident Hooligan king, Rico Dejoie (a.k.a. DJ Rico) has serious ownership in the KC nightlife scene. Like a big, black Santa Claus, he delivers his followers and believers a grand throwdown for the ages, the Hooligan Holiday.
This year, it's so phat that it's poppin' for two nights.
Prepare to get sloppy on Saturday, December 11 when the Riot Room hosts the pre-party with Omaha ska-sters, the Bishops, STL's Piston Broke and local trainwreckabilly band, Them Damned Young Livers. Cover will be $5. 21+ only.
The traditional formal affair is the next night at the Beaumont Club with Hearts of Darkness, Audiovox, New Riddim and some secret, special guests. (One year, Juliette Lewis's band, Juliette and the Licks showed up.)
It's free to attend if you are of age ($10 for the 18-20 set). But you got to be looking good. For real. If not, well, too bad because your raggedy ass won't get in.
"That rule is mainly for the men. You never have to worry about the ladies because they always look good," says Rico.
For tips on how to look proper, check out Crystal K. Wiebe's slideshow from last year's event. Notice how everyone looks fly, with or without a shitface.
