Formed in 1965 in the Greenwich Town section of Kingston, Jamaica, Tony Brevett, Brent Dowe and Trevor McNaughton would record their rocksteady debut a year later on the Studio One ("the Motown of Jamaica") label. In 1969, they hooked up with Chinese-Jamaican record producer Leslie Kong and put down their signature track, "Rivers of Babylon."
Brent Dowe died of a heart attack in 2006, and Brevett and McNaughton have continued to perform at mostly West Coast and Colorado dates, gracing ears with songs that would later be covered by Sublime, UB40 and U-Roy.
New Riddim and DJ Rico open up. Tickets are $10 at the door; 21-and-older only.
