Congrats, y'all: Five KC acts that are playing SXSW's official showcase

Capybara is playing South by Southwest's official showcase in Austin, which is kind of a big deal. Drawing acts from around the world, the event's official showcase features hundreds of acts on nearly 80 stages. But plenty of unofficial audiences are up for grabs during SXSW week, when Austin keeps label reps, bloggers and music journalists elbow to elbow with hopeful talent.

Most Kansas City bands play SXSW guerrilla-style, strumming songs in Austin basements and backyards and unofficial showcases (including this year's MidCoast Takeover), but Kansas City bands have scored five coveted spots on the official lineup at this year's SXSW.

The lucky (and deserving) acts are: the Appleseed Cast, Capybara, Hospital Ships, Mac Lethal, and Tech N9ne.

All deserving bands for sure. Especially the Cast and Capybara.

Maybe the Grisly Hand decided it wasn't worth it to go to Austin to play their five songs?
