I know that we here at The Pitch pimp Thee Oh Sees pretty hard. Why? Because they're fucking awesome. So take this as your final warning before their show at The Granada tonight.
The prodigious psych-rockers have shown the Lawrence and KC area a lot of love in the past couple of years, with the Scion Garage Fest, their show a week before that, and a slew of shows previously. If you haven't been to a Thee Oh Sees show, here's what you can expect: nausea, fever sweat, and finally euphoria. It's not that their music is especially complicated; it's a splintered, raucous take on garage rock, taking simple riffs and thundering percussion and combining them with madcap energy to create an indelible live experience. I liken it to an unhinged manic Tex Avery cartoon character. You may liken it to something different.
Thee Oh Sees, with the Dactyls, Spook Lights and Thee Water MoccaSins. Friday, February 18, at The Granada. $10. 10 p.m.
