They may be called Country Mice, but the indie-rockers making up the Brooklyn band are certainly city mice. That being said, frontman Jason Rueger and guitarist Ben Bullington both have Kansas ties, and they'll be coming home to Lawrence for a show after spending a week at the South by Southwest music festival in Austin.
Country Mice fashions a sound that's a bit like a psychedelic Wilco -- Americana from guys who grew up on the Stones and likely have a few drug binges under their belts. It's the type of sound that only guys from the Midwest who met in New York City could make. They've also just pressed their debut full-length album, Twister, on Wao Wao Records. Though it doesn't officially drop until May 2, the band will have vinyl and CD copies available on the tour.
Catch Country Mice at the Jackpot Music Hall on Monday, March 21. The show starts at 9 p.m. Follow the band's Facebook page for more information and updates on its SXSW adventures.
