I arrived at Love Garden Sounds a smidgen before the long-loved Lawrence record store opened its doors to record-hungry music lovers. The RSD line went back about four storefronts, and people filed into the store at 10 a.m. on the dot. Once inside the store, early birds got their shot at the exclusives table.
The photo above is time stamped at about 10:45 a.m. (or pre-WheatFields granola time, I like to say). Supportive spouses with babies in their arms sat on windowsills toward the front of the store patiently waiting for their other halves to choose their music poison and check out.
I really didn't have my eye on any exclusives except for the Villagers and Charlotte Gainsbourg Record Store Day 7-inch. (Needless to say, I didn't spy it anywhere.) Despite my RSD fail, everyone else around the store seemed in good spirits. Fellow vinyl fanatics bumped elbows while picking through albums, and clumps of people surrounded the new release table.
Did any Waywarders head out to other record stores later in the day? Anything to report?
