Somehow, the David George Band
has long existed in the Kansas City scene without playing the Brick, until now (though, admittedly, David George has played solo gigs there before). Members of the band recently collaborated on the Heaven Help Us
project, a communal song dedicated to relief aid in Japan, post-earthquake and post-tsunami.
Other collaborators on the project, which is available for download via iTunes, include members of Def Leppard, Spinal Tap, Everclear, and Kansas City's Roman Numerals. And you can catch a live version of the benefit song this Friday when the David George Band takes to the Brick stage.
The David George Band will feature Madison DeCamp on violin, Christine Gross on cello, Ashley Otis on supporting vocals, Byron Huhmann on bass, and Nathan Shay on drums. And, of course, David George will be there with his guitar and his powerhouse lead vocals and songwriting skills.
The show starts this Friday, April 29, at 11 p.m., at the Brick, 1727 McGee. For more information on the Heaven Help Us project, visit the track's iTunes page here
. And if you're feeling inspired, the song only costs a mere handful of change.
