What acts do you want to see announced at Kanrocksas?

Now that we've got part of the festival's lineup in hand, the folks behind Kanrocksas have stated that they will be announcing more acts as the summer marches on. Currently, there are 14 confirmed acts on Kanrocksas' roster, and Monday's press conference confirmed that there will be about 30 national acts total, once the lineup is filled out.

We're guessing that a large chunk of those acts will be electronica acts playing what's called the "Giant Critical Mass Tent," where international DJs will spin. But what other national acts would you like to see added to Kanrocksas' inaugural lineup? Is there anyone else heading to or from Lollapalooza you'd like to see in KC?

Here's Lolla's lineup again, for reference.

STS9 has it all over their website that they are playing Kanrocksas.  It doesn't look good for the event organizers if they announce a full lineup within a month of tickets going on sale.....while bands are posting that they are playing Kanrocksas that aren't even on the lineup! Hey Kanrocksas people.....pull your head out and get organized!!

Yeah, it's bugging me.  I really want to try this festival out, but the current lineup isn't doing anything for me . . . hoping the second half of acts inspires me to spend the cash.

is it just me, or are they holding out on the full lineup for too long? its making me itch! things better "materialize" soon..or else the Lolla giant will gobble up kanrocksas.

How about Modest Mouse or,Rome Feat. Danger Mouse and Jack White. Jam Bands like Gov't Mule And Moe. I like the Lolla lineup, but I think the guys putting it on should be a little more original rather than just taking bands that are playing Lolla

Ween, The Shins, Beirut, Explosions in the Sky, Battles

From Lollapalooza, I'd like to see The Joy Formidable, The Cars, Lykke Li, Best Coast, Cee-Lo Green, the Pains of Being Pure At Heart, Titus Andronicus, and Phantogram . . . and perhaps a few others.

From LouFest (in St. Louis, Aug. 27-28), I'd like to see Surfer Blood and TV on the Radio.

From Maha Music Festival (in Omaha, Aug. 13), I'd like to see Guided By Voices.

Fun exercise.

KC Confidential quoted the promoter as saying Foo Fighters would not be coming

They've already ruled out the Foo Fighters and Chili Peppers, and said that there won't be anyone added that has the draw power of the headliners. That still means most of the commenters' choices are in play, though.

I think Ween is a solid choice. They seem to be back from hiatus. With MMJ playing Waka and Lolla, they have a good chance to end up here. Would love to see the rest listed, but I think the lineup is going to be Lolla heavy the rest of the way. I think Deadmau5 is too obvious so I would like to see a big name for the DJ tent like The Chemical Brothers, Leftfield, or Orbital.

As far as bands at Lolla that I'd like to see at Kanrocksas:

Ween
My Morning Jacket
Big Audio Dynamite (not gonna happen, but I can hope)
Beirut
Explosions in the Sky
Local Natives
Death From Above 1979
Titus Andronicus

I hope you're right Abe. They definitely need those 16 acts to be national touring acts and not DJ's to justify the price. As much shit as I've talked on the lineup, if they added another dozen decent bands, I'll probably go.

report
Posted by _Matt on 04/27/2011 at 7:39 AM

I doubt a "large chunk" of the 16 TBAs will be DJs. They have 3 stages and a lot of time to fill. From what it sounded like at the presser, we'll see most of those 16 be bands with the DJ tent acts will be announced separately.

Well I doubt they would do it as a non-headliner but I'd love to see the Foo Fighters there.
