Showing 1-13 of 13
Steddy P decided on their own accord not to play because they didnt like the time slot (last group of the night downstairs.) The show was running on time btw. Cant say i blame them considering they were after Ha Ha Tonka and the room pretty much cleared. Also, they could not have promoted for weeks considering the entire show was put together in only 9 days. Just sayin'.
I find it odd that this article is being called "lame". The majority of it was quite positive, and there was even a shout out to the "organizers" who in my opinion don't deserve much props as some of the performers, not to mention names (ahem, STEDDY P, who promoted the event for weeks) didn't even get to go on stage because timing was so incredibly off! THAT'S LAME! Yes, the bottom line was that the event was to support Joplin, but if you want to call something "lame" let's do so accordingly!
Lame article on an awesome event. If you are going to write about something important like this, don't be lazy. By that, I mean show up on time and don't miss half the good artists that performed if you're getting paid to review it. Also, do your homework before you come. How you didn't know that there were bands playing upstairs is beyond me. It was on all the fliers, ads, facebook page, etc. Third, if you paid attention to what was said on stage twice, you would know that the singer of the Beautiful Bodies was sick backstage while Jeriney was talking. You ask "Who does this chick think she is?" I'd say she's pretty badass considering she had food poisoning last night and still poured her heart into the benefit...as did most of the bands you missed. Fourth, nice typo when talking about Grisly Hand. Last, and perhaps most importantly, you mention "props" to everyone involved as an afterthought. It is tragic what happened in Joplin, so I am surprised by your failure to mention all the money raised, the auctions, the massive amount of hard work, etc. I found the night be incredibly inspiring. Cheers to every one of the bands and organizers.
"Santiago" was the song that Cowboy Indian Bear opened with. If I ever get around to creating a Top Ten list of songs from the KC/Lawrence scene, that one will have a permanent place.
people who have the right to punch the author of this article:all the members of the avett bros

It fits them fine, as did the song the** preceded it, which I don't know the name of but is their best song.**you have a lil' typo there
*I was also going to say that song is called Western Ave. but Nick beat me to it. Thank you very much for the kind words!!!
Sad to hear? Is your memory that bad? You made two comments on the article about the closing, and yes it's a great room, but no, it doesn't have great sound.
The song prior to the Still Feelin' Blue is Western Avenue. We're going into the studio to record it this weekend and next!
