Last night, relatively new Lawrence act Major Games opened for guitar wonder Marnie Stern at RecordBar in Kansas City. Tonight the band plays with local band the Generals at the Eighth Street Taproom (10 p.m.). We recently typed with members Doug, Jeremy and Steve.

The Pitch: When did you guys start playing gigs?

Major Games: Gig one was in December 2010. We met in a foster home.

What's the band's favorite genre to tinker with?

Mandy Patinkin's klinker.

Favorite pre- and post-show ritual? Favorite local band to play with?

Launch boxing. We'd play with Mudhead.

So you call Lawrence home now? What's your favorite Lawrence venue?

Lawrence is home. No favorite venues at this point. Burrito King sucks now.

Busy week. First opening for miss Marnie (on Tuesday night) and then playing at the Taproom tonight.

We are stoked to play with Marnie Stern. We can only do so much. She will come out and slay. She's one-of-a-kind. The Taproom is home. It's run by 1/3 of Major Games.

I see you guys are embarking on a bit of a tour after your Taproom show. How long will you be out and about?

We are playing a few shows with the Get Up Kids. We plan to steal the Pope tandem bicycle. We're excited to play Chicago and to see BKB.

Do you have any albums set to come out? Any fall tours? Other types of amazing news? Any new directions you guys are set to take?

The plan is to record a record this fall. We do have an EP available at Love Garden in Lawrence. It can be found on Bandcamp as well. We have a 7-inch due out later in the summer with a couple of the EP tracks. We'd love to tour with the Fall.
