Construction on the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts seems to be proceeding nicely. It's almost time for that sucker to open. Last week, details of the venue's inaugural season were released, and it includes some pretty exciting performances.
Check it out:
Laurie Anderson: October 9, 2011
Lily Tomlin: November 20, 2011
Mavis Staples: December 8, 2011
Ladysmith Black Mambazo: January 24, 2012
The Chieftains: March 7, 2012
Philip Glass: April 3, 2012
Aretha Franklin: May 8, 2012
Showing 1-2 of 2
Wait! What about the Wayne Newton Revue? The Bobcat Goldthwait Comedy Caravan? I thought those shows had been booked, along with the touring production of "Grease" starring Frankie Avalon and Fabian?
I'm disappointed no one else has commented on this article. The Kauffman Center is one of the most amazing showpieces in the midwest. People drive into KC now, see it, and say, "What is that?" They built this place with attention and care, and they did it the right way.
I really hope everyone in KC, and the surrounding areas, is as excited as I am about this wonderful addition.
