Welcome to What I Like, our weekly chat with local musicians about their favorite things.
This week: Tyler Gregory
A blues-roots singer-songwriter, Tyler Gregory regularly busks on the streets of downtown Lawrence. You can also find him hosting local open-mic nights and playing alongside other local bluegrass and roots artists. He is apparently fond of barns.

Favorite local band: This area is filled with amazing bands, so it's hard to choose. I enjoy playing recent shows with Brent Berry and Ashes to Immortality.
Favorite nonlocal band: I'm really enjoying the new Gillian Welch album right now.
All-time fave songs: "Goodnight Irene" by Leadbelly will always have a place in my heart.
Best recent film I’ve seen: The Last One. A Popcorn Sutton documentary. Popcorn distills one last batch of moonshine in front of a camera before his passing. Quite a sight ... look into it!
Best recent book I’ve read: Been enjoying The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. I also really enjoy The Celestine Prophecy.
Favorite TV show: The History Channel and Austin City Limits if I watch TV.
Favorite Podcast: I actually can't say I've ever tuned into one.
Favorite venue: My favorite venue will be when someone opens their barn and throws barn dances and live shows. Any takers?
Favorite place to eat in Kansas City: I don't eat in KC much; however, I just had a good meal from the RecordBar!
Favorite neighborhood in Kansas City: I haven't had the chance to do too much exploring around KC. I'm either on my way to a gig or on foot walking away from a broken-down vehicle ;)
Favorite bar in Kansas City: I enjoy the RecordBar. The Brick and Davey's are enjoyable as well!
Favorite drink: I enjoy my whiskey on the rocks.
Favorite article of clothing: Hmm ... jeans I suppose :)
