Favorite local band: My favorite MC right now is probably Atilla. Greg Enemy's new mixtape Xtra Small goes hard, too. I've been hearing pieces of what Steddy P and Approach have been working on, too, but If I have to pick a band, I’d have to say it’s a hard tie between HOD, the Good Foot, the Will Nots, and any band with Reggie B in it.
Favorite nonlocal band: I felt I hadn't seen a band back up an MC like the House of Vibe did for Chali 2na in years. The Roots are my all-time favorite band — no question. My favorite MCs right now have to be Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean, Hodgy Beats. I got that new Evidence at the Atmosphere show, and it’s a great album I think a lot of people are sleeping on.
All-time fave songs: Wow! It's hard to pick only a few ... Tupac's "Picture Me Rollin" was the first song I played in my car. Any version of "Kansas City" makes me wanna dance, but James Brown's version is my favorite. And Redman's Muddy Waters is my favorite album front to back.
Best recent film I’ve seen: The Tribe Called Quest documentary was extra dope!
Best recent book I’ve read: I have to be honest. Haven't sat and read a book in years ... I've been doing a lot more keeping up on current events, mostly by my BlackBerry's RSS feed. So thumbs up BBC, CNN, Huffington Post and local productions like that. Don't judge me, "books" are just what we'll call Kindle files in five years.
Favorite TV show: Breaking Bad, Survivor and the Bad Girls Club ... I love trashy TV, the rest is just propaganda.
Favorite podcast: Besides my podcast *cough* (find it here)... YEEEAH BUDDY Radio or whatever my Spotify Radio is pulling down.
Favorite venue: The Replay Lounge in Lawrence ... anything with a patio is always a good look ... R.I.P. Karma.
Favorite place to eat in Kansas City: Sakura ... Sushi Train!
Favorite neighborhood in Kansas City: Waldo
Favorite bar in Kansas City: Tanner's in Waldo
Favorite drink: I'm a beer guy, mostly. Boulevard Wheat when you're supporting local, and Budweiser otherwise. But if we're getting loose that night, shots of anything brown, and sweet tea vodka always turns the night into a party.
Favorite article of clothing: Can't leave the house without a ball cap.
