Steve Wilson, frontman for the Mahoots and manager of Kief's in Lawrence, has been parsing out his 25 favorite albums of the year day-by-day at Reverberations, with the number one record coming on December 31. However, Cameron Hawk of the Dead Girls put up his list of 20 in one big chunk at Record Geek Heaven. There are some recordings you'd expect (Fleet Foxes, Kurt Vile), but there are some gems I'm going to have to go back and reevaluate.
What's your album of the year?

I know it isn't cool with the kaffiyeh set, but I REALLY enjoyed Primus' new album, Green Naugahyde.
WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO LEE VAN CLEEF?
I agree with Wye Oak, great album. I liked the Bon Iver and Lykke Li albums as well. I don't care for Portugal the Man but they're sound makes me think they should be much bigger than they are.
My top three albums of the year are Kurt Vile, Atlas Sound and Tom Waits.
Company of Thieves - Running From a Gamble
Awesome band that puts on a fantastic live show. You need to see them the next time they come to KC.
