If you're like me, holiday music can make you extremely content or homicidal. Gerald Trimble understands. Trimble, a Kansas City artist, is a tad tired of jangly holiday songs. He prefers holiday music that's soulful, tinged with timeless pop perfection, and soaked in eclectic influences. So what exactly does that sound like? You can find out this Saturday, December 8.

Trimble and a small army of musicians perform a combination of original arrangements of Beatles songs (the music of Lennon and Harrison, specifically) with English baroque and Celtic roots improvisations. And fancy this: All the musicians perform on rare, historic instruments. His show Saturday evening at All Saints Episcopal Church features musicians Darrell Lea (vocals, guitar); Trimble (17th-century viola da gamba); and the New Atlantis group, with Rebecca Bell (harpsichord), Bill Banks (1911 Gibson Mandobass) and Serdar Tuncten (percussion).

All Saints Episcopal Church, 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door or $9 in advance at Aquarius/Vulcan's Forge, 3936 Broadway, 816-931-6303.
