Nine years ago, Shiner played its farewell show at the Madrid. This weekend, the band announced via guitarist Josh Newton's Twitter that there'd not only be a release of the band's final LP, The Egg, on wax, but that also the band would be playing some reunion shows. The dates of the concerts have yet to be announced, but Newton says there will be shows in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, and (of course) Kansas City. For more information, keep an eye on the band's new Twitter and Tumblr sites.

Kansas City's The Casket Lottery has played the occasional show here and there over the past few years, but it seems that the band's full-on reunion is now a full-on thing. They've signed to No Sleep Records, which will release their already-recorded fifth album later this year. Additionally, No Sleep will be releasing 7-inches from the band and singer-guitarist Nathan Ellis in the spring.

Tech N9ne and Twista are no strangers. Tech had Twista on his All 6's & 7's cut "Worldwide Choppers," returning the favor after guesting on Twista's "Problems," from 2009's Category F5. Now, Chicago rap blog Fake Shore Drive is reporting that the two Midwest giants are set to release a joint mixtape, Midwest Fury, later this year, which is pretty amazing news.
Little is known about the collaboration outside the fact that it's happening and what the cover looks like (above). But I think it's safe to say the rate at which rhymes will be spit might exceed possibilities dictated by the laws of physics.

Luther misses you, too.
Sadly, tonight's Broadway Calls show in the Sidecar at the Beaumont has been canceled due to van troubles, meaning your pop-punk fix will have to wait until New Found Glory hits the Midland later this month. However, we still think one of the openers bears mentioning, even if you don't have a chance to catch them live.
For those of you wishing more bands held to the mid-'90s emotional punk aesthetic followed by bands like the Get Up Kids, Philadelphia's Luther is your salvation. They bring those plaintive vocals and pair them with hooky guitar work and hand-clap-worthy drumming so well, you'd swear it was 1995 all over again. They're touring in support of their debut EP on Black Numbers, entitled Siblings & Sevens, and you can stream the whole thing below.

Didn't snag tickets to tonight's sold-out Skrillex show at Liberty Hall? You still have a chance to catch the screamo singer turned dubstep producer at the official after-party down the street atthe Granada. Mammoth announced earlier today that Sonny Moore (as Skrillex's mama knows him) and 12th Planet will both be performing at the Granada's shindig. Dillon Francis, Alvin Risk, and Skrause are already on the bill for the 18-and-over show. Doors open at 10:00 p.m. We'd suggest snagging tickets now. They're going fast.

KJHK's Farmer's Ball is swamped with submissions — so swamped that its website is experiencing server errors. General manager Tom Johnson shot us a message we felt ought to be passed on to the local music community:
"KJHK has an important message for bands that submitted entries for Farmer’s Ball. Due to the high volume of Farmer’s Ball submissions this year, KJHK’s server may not have processed some earlier entries — if your band did not receive a confirmation email from KJHK, please resubmit your entry now. The deadline is still Saturday, October 1st at 5pm."

If you attended last night's Cinderella show at the Crossroads, you didn't get a show from them. Local openers the Dead Girls and Hammerlord both played full sets, but Cinderella never made it out onstage. Crossroads issued a statement earlier today regarding what happened, via their Facebook page.

It looks like Kanrocksas did indeed score a few of Lolla's headliners. The newly formed Kansas City, Kansas, festival snagged Eminem and Muse.
Other bands playing both festivals include A Perfect Circle, Kid Cudi, Flogging Molly, Arctic Monkeys and, well, every other band announced yesterday except the Flaming Lips (pretty sweet), the Black Keys (hell yeah), D12 (nothing wrong there) and Jack's Mannequin (taking one for the collective festivalgoer team).
The Chicago, Illinois, festival will go down August 5-7 in Grant Park, and tickets are running $215. While Kanrocksas tickets are right on the Chicago festival's heels at $179 (or $159, if you get them during the pre-sale), Lolla's price tag doesn't include camping or parking, which can't be cheap in downtown Chicago. Here's the rest of the lineup.

Everyone's been a-buzz about the Kanrocksas Music Festival since it shuffled into the spotlight sometime last week. Now, we've got the official lineup in hand. First things first: The festival will be held at the speedway in KCK, on August 5 and 6 (days after the Pitch Music Showcase). Pre-leaked headliners included Muse, and rumors included Eminem; and, as it turns out, both will be headlining the Fest.
Other acts: The Black Keys, A Perfect Circle, the Flaming Lips, Kid Cudi, D12, Girl Talk, Primus, Flogging Molly, Jack's Mannequin, Arctic Monkeys, Fitz and the Tantrums, and Tinie Tempah.
At the press conference, the organizers said there were more to be announced.
Pre-sale tickets are available tomorrow, for $159. The price jumps to $179 after April 30.
