When we spoke with experimental duo CVLTS last summer, they were poised to release their debut full-length, Realiser. That did not happen. As the band's Josh Thomas put it to us, "A couple different labels were planning on putting it out, but then something would always come up and delay the release."
The record will finally see release on AGUIRRE next week - sadly, not in time for CVLTS' appearance at KC Psychfest this weekend. Sample cuts from the album below.

Today comes word that Anthony Ladesich - along with Sam Platt, Richard Burgess and Mike Rooney - will be playing some Pendergast reunion shows this summer. The country roots-rockers started rehearsing this weekend, but other than some vague plans for "summertime shows," nothing is fully set as of yet.
"It's happening ... not sure where," Ladesich says. "But we will do a 'secret' show and a BIG KC show." Asked if what prompted the reunion was the fact that he'd been playing some acoustic shows lately, Ladesich replied that was part of it. Mostly, though?

Bye, bye to Brian McCourt (right)
Now Now Sleepyhead announced yesterday that the group has found a replacement for departed bassist Brian McCourt, who moved to Chicago in order to study music at Columbia College. The band didn't have to look far to fill McCourt's shoes, taking on former Flee the Seen frontwoman Kim Baldwin. Baldwin's longtime bandmate in Flee the Seen, drummer Aaron Crawford, also pounds the skins for Now Now Sleepyhead. Says the band via its Facebook: "Now Now Sleepyhead would like to welcome Kim Baldwin to the Now Now Sleepyhead family. She will now be taking the reigns at the bass and backing vocals and whatever else we throw at her!"

Seen in the above video recapping their 2011 shows, Making Movies recently announced they'll record the follow-up to their debut LP, In Deo Speramus. Their sophomore release will be produced by Steve Berlin, saxophonist for Los Lobos, whom the band met when opening for them at Knuckleheads last September.

If you've heard of the Bottleneck's new VIP promotion, the Star Card, you may have some questions. Like: "Where do I get one?" "What the hell is this?" "Is this another douchebag bottle-service thing?" "How much does it cost?" "Can I use this to save money on my car insurance?" And so on. Thankfully, the kind folks at the club have put together this helpful video to explain everything — including the fact that they'll be given out on Thursday, January 19, at Team Bear Club's Goomba Rave.

Looks like the cassette label Beer on the Rug — run by CVLTS' Josh Thomas and Gaurav Bashyakarla — has some epic plans for 2012. Huh Radio, a podcast devoted to interviews with their favorite artists, seems to be only one of many things we can expect, along with releases from the likes of Macintosh Plus. Take a listen to the "radio spot" below.

Lawrence's premiere punk-rock cover band, Stiff Middle Fingers, is looking to start writing original music, rather than covering Bad Religion and, yes, Stiff Little Fingers songs. With said movement toward material of their own, they're looking to make a name change. Should you have a good one, you might want to head to their Facebook page and make a suggestion for the band (which is, essentially, Podstar minus JoJo Longbottom on guitar plus Travis Arey on vocals).

While interviewing the Embarrassment's Bill Goffrier last week regarding the recent reissue of the band's debut single, "Patio Set" b/w "Sex Drive," the guitarist let us in on some choice details regarding the possibility of further reissues:
"There's more to come, you know. Last Laugh — he's determined to release the 12-inch EP and then our mini-album, Death Travels West. In other words, the whole vinyl catalog of the original period."
Last Laugh Records confirmed Goffrier's statement, saying fans can expect "both sometime next year." The self-titled EP will come first, followed by Death Travels West, with the represses done from the original master tapes.

While interviewing Replay Lounge owner Nick Carroll regarding the upcoming Cheap Beer compilation LP, the erstwhile Jackpot Music Hall proprietor was kind enough to clear up some confusion regarding the venue's upcoming sale to Eric and Darla Bergman:
"The Jackpot — they're going to continue to have shows. I think there was maybe some misinformation, but what they want to do is kind of expand on what's there and make it to where there's more to do during the day. It's a lot of ideas that we had, and wanted to do, too, but they were in a better position to do it. They've also got a lot of experience. They've got as much or more experience as me, and the kind of bars that they've run have been more like the Jackpot, and I've run places like the Replay. They've done things like pool tables and dartboards, and they just have a very good feel. I think it's really going to be successful, to be honest with you."
