Indie roots-rock band of ruffians Murder By Death always seems to stop in Lawrence on its tours. The group is in Larryville in a few weeks for a special whiskey-soaked New Year's Eve show at the Granada. The band recently did a Daytrotter December 6. Tracks include "No Oath, No Spell," "Lost River," "I Came Around" and "My Hill."
Locals Cowboy Indian Bear and Y(our) Fri(end) support on the NYE show, which is 18-and-older and $12 in advance, $15 at the door.

Oh, man. If you're in Lawrence tonight (November 1) and not too drained from all of last night's ghoulish shenanigans, you should totally head to the Jackpot for the Fresh & Onlys' gig.
The San Francisco band's garage-y indie rock is sweeping and wonderful — and amazing live. Pitchfork recently posted a behind-the-scenes video documenting the band recording its new album, Long Slow Dance. It's worth a watch; check it after the jump.

We noted a few weeks ago that Titus Andronicus will be making the trek to Lawrence this November. The beery New Jersey rock crew is at the Jackpot on November 20. Ceremony supports. Consider it a pre-Thanksgiving treat. Watch the band perform two songs ("Food Fight" and "My Eating Disorder") at a pizzeria in Brooklyn after the jump:

See AraabMuzik open for Sleigh Bells tonight, October 23, at the Granada. The all-ages show is $20 in advance. Door time is 7 p.m.

First Aid Kit
First Aid Kit, a super-fun, female-fronted duo from Sweden, will play the Granada on Tuesday, October 9. The all-ages show begins at 7 p.m. Support from Dylan LeBlanc.
If you aren't acquainted with the talented women, watch the video for the band's jaunty folk-pop ditty "Wolf."

So, you like bands that blow out speakers and, perhaps, a few eardrums during a set? Well, then, you’ll love Swans' show at the Beaumont tonight (Wednesday).

Yes, Twin Shadow (George Lewis Jr.) makes some original synth pop, but Lewis also stirs a mean remix. Listen to him work his dark-wave magic on Niki & the Dove's "DJ, Ease My Mind" over at Stereogum.
Want more? Hear tracks from Twin Shadow's new album, Confess, at Pitchfork, via the Fly, before the show at the Granada this Sunday, September 9. Niki & the Dove open. Door time for the all-ages show is 7 p.m. Advance tickets are $12; day-of-show entry is $14.

Curren$y
Curren$y is set to perform at the Granada this weekend. Sunday, to be exact. The tour is in support of his new album, The Stoned Immaculate, due out via Warner Bros. on June 5.
Watch the video for Curren$y's "Fast Cars Faster Women" and get a sense of his style. Hint:There is a lot of smoking, a few fast cars and, yes, many seemingly fast women:

Tennis got into music making like any other indie duo - the musicians caught the bug after a yearlong sailing trip. Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley's Atlantic voyage inspired them to get all melodic, and upon returning home, the married couple started writing sea-sparked pop songs. The result? Tennis' debut album, Cape Dory.
Tennis' latest album, Young & Old, includes the stylings of the band's new drummer, James Barone. It's a bit more blues-y in nature, but equally as charming. Catch Tennis at RecordBar May 12. Doors open at 9 p.m. The 18-and-older show costs $10, $12. Watch Tennis' video for "My Better Self," a track off Young & Old, below:
